Precision Technical Institute is an educational institution with a unique curriculum, experienced and talented faculty, and professional grade classrooms and equipment.

Entrance is open to career-minded people who want to obtain the advanced skills that only a visual college can provide. Whether you are looking to break into the field of drafting or trying to advance an already established industry career, Precision Technical Institute offers the visual arts program for you.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate or a certificate that demonstrates they have met the requirements of the High School Proficiency Exam. For applicants under the age of 18, we will need written approval from a parent or guardian.

Additionally, because we want to make sure all applicants have what it takes to succeed in the recording engineer program, we administer an evaluation prepared by Wonderlic, a nationally recognized student and employee assessment company.

Eligible students may qualify for Sallie Mae's "Career Training Loan."   Sallie May's pricing is structured so you get the best possible terms, based on your credit history.  You can borrow from a minimum of $1,000 up to the total cost of your education, less other aid received.  This includes tuition and expenses such as books, fees, a computer and living expenses.  Up to 60% of the tuition amount is allowable for expenses, not to exceed $6,000. More information about the Career Training Loan can be found here (272KB PDF).

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get more information about PTI's tuition?

If you contact the PTI department at (916) 366-3431 or fill out an information request form at right, an admissions representative will be happy to send you a catalog that outlines tuition costs.

There are several factors that make it difficult to directly compare tuition prices - a PTI education normally only takes nine months - a fraction of the time that a traditional college takes - our curriculum doesn't follow a traditional semester or quarter schedule, and many of your supplies are included in the tuition costs. Because of this, an admissions representative is the best equipped to show you how to factor all these considerations when researching your education.

When can I come visit?

You are welcome to visit anytime! In fact, we believe taking a tour is the best way for you to learn about PTI. You can either call (916) 366-3431 to schedule a tour or fill out the tour request form on the right side of this page.

Will I be able to work while attending PTI?

Absolutely! To accommodate your needs, PTI offers day and evening classes at the school.

What are the admission requirements for PTI?

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate or a certificate that demonstrates they have met the requirements of the High School Proficiency Exam. For applicants under the age of 18, we will need written approval from a parent or guardian.

Additionally, because we want to make sure all applicants have what it takes to succeed in the visual arts program, we administer an evaluation prepared by Wonderlic, a nationally recognized student and employee assessment company.

What if I don't have a High School Diploma or GED?

We still would like you to pay us a visit because we can provide you with resources on where and how to prepare for your High School Diploma or GED, which generally takes about four weeks or less. Regardless of whether you choose to enroll at PTI or not, we believe that it is in your interest to acquire your high school diploma or your GED for any career you choose.

What if I don't score with Wonderlic's evaluation?

We recognize that some applicants, although capable, may not have prepared for the evaluation. If you do not meet the evaluation criteria, you will be allowed to re-take the evaluation after a one week waiting period. Conversely, if you do well on the test but six months lapse before you enroll, you will be asked to re-take the evaluation.
